This program is why I started Future You Wellness.

I’ve been struggling with eczema for my whole life, and for a long time, it seemed to be going in circles.

When it got bad, I saw a GP and got prescribed steroid cream. It got better, but only for a while. I went back, got more medication or something stronger. Again, it got better, but still, it came back and sometimes worse.

They never tried to figure out why this was happening, no deeper thought or curiosity. It was just a quick fix to manage the symptoms.

This seems to be a common story for a lot of skin conditions, and I was frustrated, just like you.

I decided to be the Practitioner I wanted for myself, so I could help others going through similar experiences. Someone I wish I’d found growing up. Someone who would listen and be curious enough to figure out why this was happening and stop the cycle.

What I commonly hear from clients before they start working with me:

“I've had eczema all my life. All I knew was steroid treatments. Creams for small areas. Oral medication for when it spreads.”

“The next step was immunosuppressants, but I knew that would only mask the symptoms, not truly help stop why this was happening.”

“I wanted to find the root cause, but they said my symptoms weren't bad enough for a better test.”

“I tried to tell them that my acne and skin flare-ups were hormonal, as it was always worse around my period.”

“I didn’t know what else to do.”

The SKIN program is for:

  • eczema & dermatitis

  • psoriasis

  • acne

  • rosacea

We will deep dive into your specific presentation and what might be contributing to these symptoms. I aim to be curious and think laterally to identify your specific drivers, so we can address them effectively. This will stop the downstream symptoms from occurring in the first place and stop the cycle!

The Top Three Contributors

Gut Imbalance

The gut–skin axis means internal imbalances often show up externally. When the intestinal microbiome becomes imbalanced or the gut lining is compromised, inflammatory byproducts, toxins and immune signals can trigger acne, eczema and rosacea.

Dysbiosis and increased intestinal permeability may also impair nutrient absorption, reducing the availability of key compounds needed for skin repair and barrier function. Restoring microbial balance and gut integrity is therefore fundamental to improving skin health and reducing inflammation to support clearer, healthier skin.

Hormonal Link

Hormones play a central role in regulating oil production, inflammation, skin cell renewal and tissue repair. When stress, diet, or cycle changes disrupt oestrogen, progesterone, or cortisol balance, the skin can become reactive or congested. Supporting hormone regulation and calming the stress response (HPA axis) helps bring the skin back into balance.

Chronic activation of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis during stress can further destabilise hormonal balance, increasing inflammation and sebum production. Addressing hormonal regulation and supporting adrenal function helps restore skin equilibrium and overall resilience.

Immune Involvement

Many chronic skin conditions have an immune-mediated component, particularly conditions stemming from allergies or sensitivities, such as atopic dermatitis or autoimmune conditions, like psoriasis. An overactive or dysregulated immune response can drive inflammation, while impaired mucosal immunity may allow increased antigen/toxic exposure from the gut. Supporting the immune system so it doesn’t overload and attack its own system is vital in managing these conditions.

Stress also plays a significant role, as heightened cortisol levels and ongoing HPA axis stimulation can alter immune function and slow healing. Balancing immune activity, repairing the gut, and managing stress together create a calmer internal environment for skin recovery and reduce inflammatory skin responses (‘flare-ups’).

Any appropriate changes will be made to ensure the treatment plan is as effective as possible to provide you with the best results.

Specialised Laboratory Testing

  • A Comprehensive Stool Test helps uncover internal imbalances that often drive chronic skin issues. The gut and skin are closely connected through the gut–skin axis, meaning disturbances in gut bacteria, yeast, or inflammation can show up as acne, eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis.

Stool testing assesses microbial balance, digestive function, and gut immune markers such as secretory IgA, providing insight into how the gut may be contributing to inflammation or toxin build-up affecting the skin. Addressing these findings supports clearer, calmer, and healthier skin from within.

    It analyses:

    • Digestion and enzyme function

    • Malabsorption and nutrient deficiencies

    • Bacterial imbalance (dysbiosis)

    • Candida and yeast overgrowth

    • Parasites or harmful pathogens

    • Gut inflammation

    • Compromised gut barrier (“leaky gut”)

    • Low immune protection (sIgA)

    • Microbiome metabolic activity

  • The Gut Barrier or Intestinal Permeability Panel assesses the integrity of the gut lining, often referred to as “leaky gut.” When the tight junctions between intestinal cells become compromised, larger food particles, toxins, and microbes can enter the bloodstream, triggering inflammation and immune activation.

Markers such as zonulin help measure this permeability, providing insight into how well the intestinal barrier is functioning. Identifying and addressing increased permeability is key to reducing inflammation, improving digestion, and restoring healthy communication between the gut and immune system.

This test is often included in the Comprehensive Microbiome Mapping Tests recommended.

  • Food sensitivities can quietly drive inflammation that shows up on the skin as acne, eczema, or redness. Testing for IgG and IgA food reactions helps identify foods that may be irritating the gut or triggering immune responses that affect skin health.

    • IgG responses show how your immune system reacts over time to certain foods. Elevated IgG levels suggest a delayed, chronic sensitivity that can contribute to ongoing inflammation and digestive upset.

    • IgA responses reflect irritation or inflammation at the gut lining itself. High IgA reactions indicate that certain foods are actively stressing or damaging the intestinal barrier (potentially causing Leaky Gut Syndrome).

Together, IgG and IgA testing provides a deeper view of how food affects both your immune system and gut health, allowing for a more targeted, personalised healing plan.

By pinpointing and temporarily removing these triggers, inflammation can calm, digestion can improve, and the skin is better able to heal and restore its natural balance.

  • Hormonal imbalances are a common underlying cause of skin concerns such as acne, congestion, or flare-ups around the cycle.

Testing blood hormone levels provides insight into how oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol are influencing oil production, inflammation, and skin cell turnover. Identifying these imbalances allows for targeted treatment to support hormonal harmony, reduce breakouts, and promote clearer, more balanced skin.

  • Cortisol, your main stress hormone, directly affects inflammation, oil production, and skin repair.

Cortisol graphing tracks how your levels rise and fall throughout the day, showing whether chronic stress or HPA axis imbalance may be contributing to acne, eczema, or flare-ups.

Understanding your stress rhythm helps tailor lifestyle, nutritional, and hormonal support to calm both the body and the skin.

This test is included in the DUTCH Testing Kits recommended.

  • The DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) panel is regarded as the gold standard for advanced hormone assessment.

The DUTCH Test provides a detailed view of how hormones are produced, metabolised, and cleared - key factors influencing skin health. Imbalances in oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or cortisol can drive acne, oiliness, inflammation, and delayed healing.

By mapping hormone pathways and stress response (HPA axis function), the DUTCH test helps identify whether skin symptoms are hormonally driven, guiding precise, targeted treatment for long-term clarity and balance.

  • The Organic Acids Test offers valuable insight into internal factors that influence skin health, including gut balance, hormone metabolism, and overall cellular function. It detects markers of bacterial or yeast overgrowth, nutrient deficiencies, oxidative stress, and detoxification issues - all of which can contribute to inflammation, acne, eczema, or dull skin.

By identifying these underlying metabolic and microbiome imbalances, the Organic Acids Test helps guide a targeted plan to restore clear, healthy skin from within.
